Signs Your Vehicle Needs A Tow Truck

Posted on

Drivers always rush to mechanics when their cars break down. Sadly, it's not always possible to reach a mechanic. You might require the aid of a tow truck company to get your vehicle into a nearby garage. With that in mind, how can you tell if your car needs a towing service? Well, look out for these indicators.

Difficulty in Driving

If you have had your car for a long time, you definitely understand how it drives. That said, you should quickly notice the slightest change in handling. Remember that these changes can make it difficult to control the car. You are probably having difficulty accelerating, breaking, or making corners. If that happens, you'll need to pull over and get in touch with a towing company. Don't be tempted to continue driving your car if this problem arises.

Warning Lights

Modern cars will always warn you when something isn't right. You are responsible for taking note of these warning lights and taking the appropriate action. If you notice warning lights on your dashboard, stop the car and check what the light means.

Some warning lights aren't that serious. However, you should never ignore the fuel warning light, check engine light, coolant light, and brake light. If any of them appear, consider calling a towing company to transport your vehicle to a mechanic.

Unusual Noises

Cars that are serviced often don't make any unusual noises. So, if your car starts making weird noises while driving, something might be off. If these noises are loud, you should just stop the car and get a mechanic or call a tow truck company to haul the vehicle. Weird noise mostly happens when the shock absorbers fail or when your car has brake issues. These noises can range from rattling and squealing to grinding sounds.

Smoke

Smoke coming from your hood is never a good sign. Luckily, smoke is a sign you'll hardly miss. Your engine will produce smoke when it overheats. As such, you should stop your vehicle immediately after you spot the smoke. If you continue driving the car, you will ruin the engine or its important components. That said, you should have the car towed to the nearest mechanic or garage.

Brake Failure

Brake failure is a malfunction that you can't afford to ignore. There is no way you'll cruise on a highway without working brakes. So, if you notice that your car's brakes aren't working properly, try stopping the vehicle and contact your local towing company. Your car shouldn't return to the road until the brakes are repaired or replaced.
